Welcome!

Welcome to my blogging site! I have never studied Media Studies before, so I am very excited to learn new things and gain experience of filming and editing. I love music videos and films so; I am interested to learn how they are made. I am looking forward to filming and using a multitude of camera shots to enhance my work. One camera shot I am eager to use is an extreme close up as I think it is used to show an important detail, object, or gesture between characters. Therefore, this will aid me to create an interesting and engaging piece of work as they will zoom into minuscule details that aren’t seen in everyday life. I look forward to create my thriller opening!

For our group, the most important tips we need to follow are checking the locations we want to film so we know it's suitable for our thriller opening. As we are filming outside, we need to plan for the weather as we will want it to be gloomy and foggy. We will need to make a clear list of what props/costumes we will need because we aren't sure of what we will need yet. While shooting, we will need to make sure we stick to the 180 degree rule as in our preliminary task me made this mistake but thankfully we noticed it while we were filming.

Lighting practice:

3-Point Fill lighting: This type of lighting creates a normal-looking scene with soft shadows and average colours. Using 3-light setup to provide normal lighting across an entire object, the exact opposite of chiaroscuro. This is used in most 'normal' scenes with any object. Chiaroscuro lighting: This lighting is characterised by harsh lighting that creates an extreme contrast between areas of the shot, such as a characters face. It can also be used with colour or be used in black and white. High key lighting: It uses harsh, bright lights to reduce contrast in a scene. This gives the scene a white-washed, clean look that does not have any shadow in frame. Backlighting: When the scene is directly from behind, usually by some form of natural light, where it used to create a silhouette.
