Lighting practice:

3-Point Fill lighting: This type of lighting creates a normal-looking scene with soft shadows and average colours. Using 3-light setup to provide normal lighting across an entire object, the exact opposite of chiaroscuro. This is used in most 'normal' scenes with any object. Chiaroscuro lighting: This lighting is characterised by harsh lighting that creates an extreme contrast between areas of the shot, such as a characters face. It can also be used with colour or be used in black and white. High key lighting: It uses harsh, bright lights to reduce contrast in a scene. UPDATE:

Following my last blog post, we have discovered several problems. When we tried to export our title, our background disappeared. After several tries to solve this, we failed. We are now left with this - black background with smoke. After asking people to compare the difference with the other background, a lot of people preferred this: We have also developed this and made our film title the same so it flows:

Introduction to our preliminary task:

For our preliminary task, we need to use Match on Action, 180 Degree rule and Shot/reverse shot, this post will explore what they mean. Match On Action: This is where a cut between two shots that puts two different framings of the same action next to each other, making it seem to continue constant. It is a editing technique for continuity editing. It gives an impression of a sense of continuity, the action creates a 'visual bridge' which draws attention away from continuity mistakes. It helps to show the viewer what is exactly happening. Shot/reverse shot: This is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. As the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other. 180 Degree rule: Two characters in a scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other.
